Oscar de la Hoya was embroiled in controversy for posting a video in which he appears in a thong with his girlfriend, but he maintains that they did nothing wrong.

The former boxer has come out in defence of his and his partner Holly Sonders’ actions after they were censored on social media for a video in which they appear dancing in scantily clad clothes. The post caused a stir on the platform, leading to users reporting it and Instagram removing it entirely.

Well, De la Hoya did not remain silent and uploaded a video to his networks explaining why he recorded it and criticizing people who do not understand his sense of humor.

“I like to dance. Who doesn’t? And I love wearing my thong because I’m in great physical shape.”De la Hoya said. “I have a beautiful partner. I don’t like tan lines.”he added.

De la Hoya also shared how the video was recorded: “We came back from the beach and started dancing. What happens next? We go mega viral.”he commented, before reflecting on today’s society.

“Most people understand that it’s funny, but of course there are some who find it offensive. And why is it offensive? Why is it so impossible for people to have fun these days? What happened to the world? Why is everyone so fucking grumpy all the time?”he questioned.

“People here in the United States wake up every day looking for reasons to be offended”he concluded.

What did De la Hoya and Sonders publish?

After a video in which Oscar de la Hoya and Holly Sonders dance in a casual manner was reported by users, Instagram decided to delete the post. In the clip, De la Hoya appears in a thong and Sonders in a bikini, which sparked a reaction from some followers who considered the content inappropriate.

The former boxing champion’s response was not long in coming. Visibly upset, De la Hoya expressed his discontent and accused his detractors of not tolerating seeing them enjoy themselves. “My last post, which was just a joke, was deleted. Haters reported it because they don’t like to see me happy.”she said on her Instagram stories. Despite the criticism and censorship, the couple has made it clear that they will not change their approach, promising to continue sharing similar content and maintaining their provocative style on social media.
