Mexican Army arrests 7 child hitmen between 12 and 15 years old in Sonora

In two operations carried out in the state of Sonora, seven children and adolescents were arrested, some with weapons and tactical equipment accompanied by alleged members of a criminal group that had kidnapped people.

In actions coordinated by elements of the National Defense Secretariat (Sedena), the National Guard and the state police in the municipalities of Santa Ana and Átil, the agents seized vehicles, weapons for the exclusive use of the Army, and They managed to rescue two men who were kidnapped.

The first action took place in the municipality of Santa Ana, where the people were allegedly being held against their will.

There, 19 people were arrested, among whom were Four minors who followed orders from their alleged captors.

Three vehicles reported stolen in the United States, tire-puncturing devices, assault rifles with their respective magazines loaded, as well as various cartridges and tactical equipment were seized at the scene.

In the second operation, carried out in the municipality of Átil, law enforcement found a subject who was accompanied by three children between 12 and 15 years oldall in tactical gear, dressed in black and armed.

The adult was arrested and long weapons, bullets and cartridges were seized.

According to local sources, the State Security Board informed the Child Development System (DIF) of Sonora, in order to provide support to minors with psychological care, since it is presumed that They may have been recruited against their will.

The State DIF System will also assist children and adolescents in the investigations and judicial process for their probable participation in criminal acts.
