Authorities reported that An Indiana mother of three was fatally shot through her kitchen window while recording a TikTok video with a friendallegedly by a stalker ex-boyfriend who had threatened to kill her.
Kaitlynn Lee, 25, was laughing, dancing and lip-syncing while filming with a friend on Saturday when she suddenly turned to look at someone banging on her window, according to the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office.
“What are you doing here?” Lee was heard asking, before a shot rang out and she fell dead to the ground, WHAS-TV News reported.
Lee’s ex-boyfriend, Joshua Thompson, 25, was charged with murder after his gun was found outside the window with a single spent shell, local media reported.
He had shown up at his brother’s home crying and distraught, telling him he had shot the mother of his child in the head and killed her, according to court records reviewed by WHAS.
After surrendering, supposedly He confessed to shooting his ex after hanging around her house to see if any men were visiting.according to the report.
The estranged couple were in a toxic relationship and Thompson had an active no-contact order.
A witness told police Lee was so worried that she said “if she was ever found dead, Joshua would kill her,” according to court documents.
“We take allegations of domestic violence very seriously. And we are taking them seriously in this case,” Floyd County District Attorney Chris Lane told the outlet.
“Sadly, this is not unusual in these allegations and circumstances. Relationships can lead to tragic outcomes and sadly, the allegations are that this is what happened,” Lane said.
Thompson is being held without bond in the Floyd County Jail.
A GoFundMe.com page set up by friends of the slain woman had raised more than $11,000 as of Thursday, when her wake and funeral were scheduled to take place in New Albany.
