However, with FIFA’s authorization, the plans for this project could take place this season. There could even be another match in the United States that same month of December between other teams in the Spanish championship.
It almost happened at the time
In 2018, Tebas made official the announcement of an agreement with the company Relevant to play at least one league match in the United States. The chosen one was Girona-Barcelona, but the management finally came up against the decision of the Catalan club, which was initially willing to play the match without any problem.
The opposition of the AFE and, especially, of the Royal Spanish Federation The Football Commission, with the support of FIFA, was instrumental and had a lot of influence in making this happen. The situation is different today. FIFA announced last May that it would be creating a commission to study the modification of the regulations that currently govern this type of situation, especially the one mentioned above.
If this idea of LaLiga goes ahead, the return of the Barcelona Football Club at the Spotify Camp Nou would be taking place on January 26 in a match where they would be facing Valencia in the next league match that the team of the German coach Hansi Flick will be playing at home after the match against Atlético.
