Former Argentine President Cristina Kirchner (2007-2015) testifies as a victim in Buenos Aires this Wednesday (08/14/2024), in the trial against those accused of the attempted murder that occurred on September 1, 2022.
“Tomorrow I will go to testify at the oral trial that the material authors of the attempted murder of my person perpetrated on September 1, 2022 are being prosecuted. Of the intellectual authors and the financiers? Fine, thank you. They sleep protected by Comodoro Py (federal courts),” Kirchner wrote on his X account on Tuesday.
The former president has repeatedly criticized the fact that the justice system is not pursuing the alleged “masterminds” and “financiers” of the assassination attempt.
It will be the first time that Kircher is in the same room as the three people who are being tried for the failed attack.
Fernando Sabag (37) claims that he pulled the trigger of a pistol that was a few centimeters from the head of the then vice president (2019-2023). Supposedly the weapon failed and did not fire.
The trial, which is expected to last between six and 12 months, focuses on the attacker, his ex-girlfriend and their employer as street vendors, without addressing alleged ideologues or possible financial backers. These two parties are part of a separate case that is still under investigation.
