A new controversy has arisen in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games after American skater Nyjah Huston criticized the quality of the medals awarded at the world-class event that will come to an end this weekend.

The American won the bronze medal in skateboarding at Paris 2024 and after a few days of celebration the athlete revealed that his precious medal was showing signs of wear, something that should not happen taking into account the importance of the award.

“It seems that they are not as high quality as one would think. They look worn, the colour is falling off, Olympic medals should be of better quality.”said Houston, who confessed that during her celebrations the bronze medal passed through the hands of several friends and acquaintances.

The athlete posted several stories on his official Instagram account, where he has more than 5 million followers, showing the condition of his bronze medal, which after the celebrations ended up looking quite worn.

“The medal looks like it went to war and then came back.”added the skater himself, who is considered one of the best skaters in history and who finally managed to win an Olympic medal in Paris 2024 after his unfortunate performance in Tokyo 2020.

But now, the 29-year-old skater has finally gotten rid of that thorn by finishing third in these Olympic Games behind his compatriot Jagger Eaton, who took the silver medal, and the Japanese Yuto Horigome, who climbed to the top of the podium.

More controversies in Paris 2024

The poor quality of the medals for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games is a new controversy that has arisen at this event that is about to end and where, apart from the sporting issue, some other controversies have arisen since its controversial inauguration.

From the poor conditions in the Olympic Village due to the lack of air conditioning, the comfort of the beds and the lack of sufficient food for all the athletes, to the unhealthiness of the waters of the Seine River where some competitions were held, have generated controversy in Paris 2024.

More recently, a couple of cases of sexual assault also occurred at the Olympic Games. First, the father of an Olympic judo champion from Croatia was arrested for kissing a volunteer without consent, and on Friday, an athlete from Egypt was arrested for hitting a woman on the backside.
