Mexican boxer Marco Verde won the silver medal in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games after losing this Friday in the final of the 71-kilogram category against Uzbek Asadkhuja Muydinkhujaev, thus giving the Aztec delegation its fifth medal at this Olympic event.

The fight, which took place at the Olympic facilities located on the Philippe Chatrier court of the Roland Garros Stadium, ended in favor of the Uzbek by unanimous decision over the 22-year-old Mexican, who was clearly outclassed by his opponent.

For his part, world boxing champion Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez also joined in congratulating Marco Verde after his fight that earned him the silver medal at these Olympic Games.

“Thank you for putting the name of Mexican boxing on high. Congratulations, Marco Verde”wrote “Canelo” Álvarez on his social networks to show his joy for the achievement of the young Mexican boxer who writes his name in the history of Aztec sport.
