A plane with 58 passengers and four crew members on board crashed in a region belonging to Sao Paulo, Brazil
According to information released by local media, The fire department confirmed that the accident occurred in the city of Vinhedo, in the Recanto Florido residential complex.
Upon learning of the accident, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has called for a minute of silence, as preliminary information indicates that none of the people who boarded the plane survived.
“I have to be the bearer of very bad news and I would like everyone to stand up so we can observe a minute of silence because a plane has just crashed in the city of Vinhedo, in São Paulo, with 58 passengers and four crew members and it seems that everyone died. I would like to ask for a minute of silence for the victims,” he said.

In a recording circulating on social media, the aircraft can be seen plummeting vertically in free fall toward the ground.
Voepass Linhas Aéreas confirmed that the crashed aircraft was an ATR-72 turboprop flying the Cascavel – Guarulhos route.
At approximately 1:28 p.m. local time, an emergency call received on Rua Joao Edueta, near Miguel Melhado de Campos Highway, alerted authorities of the plane crash and immediately seven units with medical personnel, firefighters, members of the Civil Protection unit and the Military Police, moved to the point where the aircraft crashed.
At almost the same time, Cascavel Airport activated security protocols after receiving a radio message from the pilot indicating that something unusual was happening with the plane.
Although the airline that owned the crashed plane “has no confirmation of how the accident occurred or the current situation of the people on board,” it has set up a telephone number to assist the victims’ families.
