Woman arrested in connection with ambush that killed Florida officer

Authorities announced this week New details emerge about the ambush that left a Florida officer shot deadincluding the arrest of a woman who seemed pleased and happy about the events that took place in her home last week.

How did the Florida officers be ambushed?

Michael and Julie Ann Sulpizio and their daughters Cheyenne, 23, and Savannah, 22, were at their home in rural Eustis, about 37 miles northwest of Orlando, when officers arrived Friday night.

Officers responded to the scene after receiving reports that Julie Ann Sulpizio, 48, had been trying to lure other residents to the residence to kill them.

When officers arrived at the scene, they encountered Julie Ann, who began talking about angels and demons and accused the neighbors of being pedophiles. Authorities detained her for a mental evaluation and decided to head to her home on the same street.

Upon arriving at the residence, they noticed two dead dogs in the Sulpizios’ yard and When they entered the house, the other three members of the family ambushed them. and shot Deputy Bradley Michael Link multiple times, killing him, authorities said.

The other officers, two of whom were injured, retreated and called for reinforcements.

A SWAT team arrived and raided the property. Two officers, Deputy First Class Harold Howell and Deputy First Class Stefano Gargano, were shot by family members, authorities said.

The officers heard several more shots inside the house and upon entering again Cheyenne and Savannah Sulpizio were found dead on the couch from self-inflicted gunshot wounds. Michael Sulpizio was also found seriously injured from a self-inflicted gunshot wound and died at a nearby hospital, authorities said.

LaterWhen officers interviewed Julie Ann about the events, she seemed pleased with the massacre. “She was cheerful,” Detective Josh Mercer, who interviewed the mother, told reporters at a news conference Monday.

“There was no remorse whatsoever. None at all,” he said.

Lake County Sheriff Peyton Grinnell said at the briefing reported by local media that the Officers found an arsenal of weapons and survival supplies inside the home.as well as anti-government propaganda and media related to conspiracy theories.

Mercer added that investigators found “bumper stickers, brochures and flyers for things like Infowars and various podcasts.”

The Sulpizios had become estranged from their families and society, Grinnell added. The girls had been removed from public school and were educated at home to protect them from outside influences.

Julie Ann Sulpizio, 48, is charged with first-degree premeditated murder of a law enforcement officer, seven counts of attempted murder, assault/aggravated strangulation, two counts of assault and battery on a law enforcement officer.

Sulpizio remains held without bail, the sheriff said.
