The 2024 Paris Olympics have not yielded very good results for the Mexican delegation. In fact, this Friday, August 9, Marcó Verde will go for the first gold medal for the Aztec nation. In addition to the gold medal, the Mexican boxer could also increase their financial compensation.

Mexican Marco Verde achieved a new victory in the men’s welterweight semi-finals at Paris 2024. The Aztec won a tight fight against the British Lewis Ricardson.

In this sense, the young 27-year-old fighter will have the opportunity to give Mexico its first gold medal in Paris 2024. Marco Verde will have to face the boxer from Uzbekistan, Asadxoʻja Moʻydinxoʻjayev.

The Mexican’s rival reaches these stages after beating Omar Elawady (5-0) in the round of 16, Nicolai Terteryan (5-0) in the quarter-finals and American Omari Jones (3-2) in the semi-finals.

The Mexican fighter has already secured, in addition to the silver medal, a good financial compensation for their participation in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Conade announced that they had a budget of 30 million pesos ($1.5 million dollars) for prizes for athletes.

By winning a gold medal, athletes would be rewarded with 3 million pesos ($155,700 dollars); the silver would be equivalent to 2 million pesos ($103,800 dollars) and the bronze at 1 million pesos ($51,900 dollars).
