Despite the rumours that arose after the end of last season in England, where there was talk of the possibility of Edson Álvarez leaving West Ham for this coming campaign, the Mexican is already working to prepare for what will be his second campaign with the Hammers.

The 26-year-old midfielder became a key player in the team managed by Scottish midfielder David Moyes, who ended up leaving his post at the end of last season. This situation had also fuelled rumours about the Mexican’s possible departure.

However, this did not happen and after almost two months of recovery from his muscle injury, “Machín” is now under the orders of the Spanish coach Julen Lopetegui who took over the command of the English team for this season that is about to begin next Friday, August 16.

What happened to Edson Alvarez?

The Mexican midfielder had high expectations for the Copa America in the United States, which was played between last month and this month, but luck was not on his side after he was accidentally injured in the first match of El Tri, which ended in its elimination in the group stage.

Despite the uncertainty that surrounded the player at the beginning, his withdrawal from the tournament was finally confirmed after he had suffered a partial myofascial tear of the biceps femoris muscle and semitendinosus muscle of the left leg.

There was talk that the Mexican midfielder would have to be out of action for between four and six weeks and this Tuesday, “El Machín” finally joined the training sessions with West Ham ahead of the upcoming Premier League season.
