Protests in Venezuela, live: people take to the streets after controversial elections

A new day of protests is taking place across Venezuela on Tuesday against President Nicolás Maduro, who was declared the winner after a controversial election surrounded by strong accusations of fraud by the opposition and much of the international community. Deaths and injuries are reported in several cities across the country.

Venezuela suspends flights with Panama and the Dominican Republic

The Venezuelan government announced the temporary suspension, starting July 31, of commercial flights to and from Panama and the Dominican Republic, in rejection of “interference actions” by these countries regarding the presidential elections held on Sunday in the South American nation.

Opposition leader arrested in Venezuela

Freddy Superlano, leader of Voluntad Popular, one of the Venezuelan opposition parties, was arrested this morning, according to the media outlet Monitoreamos.

How to view the minutes of the elections in Venezuela

The opposition, led by Maria Corina Machado and Edmundo Gonzalez, the main opposition candidate, has published 73% of the voting records on a website, which they say show that Maduro lost the election.
