Trump could debate Harris before early voting

Until three days ago, the campaign of former US President and Republican candidate Donald Trump closed the possibility of an electoral debate with Vice President Kamala Harris, as long as she is not officially nominated as the Democratic Party candidate, something that will surely happen before August 7.

Therefore, this Monday, Former President Donald Trump said he is willing to debate Kamala Harris, as long as it is done before the start of early votingwhich begins in mid-September in some states, including key Pennsylvania.

Since last May, Joe Biden, before his resignation, and Donald Trump They agreed to hold two presidential debates, in June and September, after the Democratic president challenged his rival and the Republican tycoon, involved in several legal proceedings, responded that he was ready.

At the first meeting, President Joe Biden struggled, rambling and hesitant in his responses, a performance that sparked a wave of criticism and eventually led to him dropping out of the race just over 100 days before the election.

Although Trump expressed his doubts over the last week about holding the second presidential debate, he said he is not afraid to face Harris in front of the cameras and “it is easier to debate against her” since she does not have a “base” like President Joe Biden had.

Even as soon as it became known that Harris would possibly take Joe Biden’s place, he assured that he would be willing to debate the possible Democratic Party candidate on several occasions, but then he changed his speech.

“I would actually be willing to have more than one debate,” the Republican candidate said in a call with the media organized by the Republican National Committee. “I think if you’re between the Democratic candidate or the Republican candidate, you really have an obligation to debate,” the former president said.

In this context, Trump acknowledged in an interview with Fox News that he would “probably” end up “debating her,” but regretted that the network that is committed to doing so on September 10, ABC News, “will get rich” off of him.

“I don’t want to give millions of dollars to ABC, so they can get rich,” said the former president, who has proposed that Fox News take charge of organizing the face-to-face.

Recently, social media revived reports of how the Vice President of the United States and virtual Democratic presidential candidate, Kamala Harris, said during a 2019 appearance on the night program “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” that she would “wipe the floor with Trump,” so the face-to-face meeting could be a highly tense one.
