The Mexican team was unable to reach the finals of Women’s Artistic GymnasticsBut the coach of the Mexican team, Pavel Oceguera, said he was satisfied with the performance of the Mexican athletes.

“The objective was met. Alexa (Moreno) is the most experienced, Ahtziri, who is in her first Olympics, did her part in the free-hand competition,” she said.

Coach Oceguera also spoke about the young Natalia Escalera, who suffered a serious injury to the ligament of one of her feet. “She wanted to compete anyway, they infiltrated her, she passed on uneven bars and it was the highest score of the team’s round,” he explained.

The coach said they are very happy to have participated in the event in Paris 2024 and are focused on Los Angeles 2028, the next stop of the Summer Olympic Games.

“We had to start with a parameter. This is the first time that Mexico has qualified three athletes for the Olympic Games (in gymnastics). We are very satisfied, I am doubly satisfied,” said Oceguera.

The Mexican delegation competed on the same day with Simone Biles, one of the best gymnasts in the history of the Olympic Games.

For the coach of the Mexican delegation it was a masterful performance that they were able to enjoy, beyond the competitiveness.

“Impressive, a motivation for everyone. We have had the opportunity to see them, because they came after us in training, we have a very good relationship with them. An exemplary athlete, an athlete who is breaking barriers and an extraordinary one,” commented the Mexican coach.

Alexa Morena was left out by thousandths

Mexican gymnast Alexa Moreno, one of the world’s greatest vault specialists of the last decade, was eliminated from the final at the Paris Olympic Games.

Moreno competed early on Sunday and prayed for the rest of the day that her rivals’ results would be in her favour. But it didn’t happen and she finished just 50 thousandths of a second off the lead.

“I’m a little bit frustrated. I didn’t like how I performed my two jumps. “When I was in the air, I was really concentrating on landing and getting my feet right, because I thought I was going to die,” he said after his performance.
