An injury nearly prevented Natalia Escalera from participating in the Paris 2024 Olympic GamesHowever, the Mexican did everything possible to complete her performance in artistic gymnastics despite having a partial tear of the plantar tendon in her left leg.

Despite the intense pain that the Mexican gymnast was suffering, she decided to take a series of painkillers that allowed her to complete her participation in the qualification of this discipline, in which, although she did not manage to advance, she was finally able to fulfill her dream of being an Olympic athlete.

“I had said I wasn’t going to participate, but I had to take as many pills as I could to be able to do it and I am very happy, because I was able to fulfill my dream.”the athlete said in an interview with ESPN in which she revealed the pain she felt and that almost prevented her from participating this Sunday in Paris 2024.

“They say that the stage is a painkiller, I am in a lot of pain, but it was the last routine, so I had to leave everything. Every time I put my foot on the bar it was pain; I just prayed to get through the routine healthy.”added Natalia Escalera who ended her presentation in tears due to intense pain.

The Mexican gymnast had arrived at Paris 2024 with a physical discomfort and a day before her participation in the All Around this Sunday she suffered a partial tear of the plantar tendon of her left leg, a situation that left her practically without options to compete.

After being advised not to participate in Sunday’s event, Natalie Escalera finally made the decision to get into action and was able to complete her performance in good form, although she was unable to qualify for the final of the event.

Alexa Moreno also participated injured

This Sunday’s day for Mexico in artistic gymnastics at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games was marked by injuries after it was learned that Alexa Moreno is also participating with a cartilage injury in her right knee, for which she had to have the support of the physiotherapist in

“I’m injured. The thing is that the physiotherapist who was with me the whole way was not among those who brought me; it was a person who doesn’t really know me and doesn’t know how they bandaged me,” said the Mexican athlete.

“I’m old enough for it to affect me. It’s all in my head. Any mistakes I made were my own, nothing more. Bringing back an injury hit me hard in training, because it was something I had to take care of all these months.”Moreno added.

“I still have to have another operation, so falls are much more scary; I do it perfectly or it will hurt and you are not always in a position to do it perfectly. It is difficult to handle it.”the gymnast finished.
