Ovidio Guzmán López, alias “El Ratón,” remains in prison, although his legal status has been modified, without any details being provided.

Rumors of his release came after the Bureau of Prisons said he was “released” from prison on July 23.

However, the Northern District Court of Illinois, based in Chicago, indicates that it has a hearing pending for September 30, one day before the previously scheduled one.

Mexico’s Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, Rosa Icela Rodríguez, confirmed in a press conference that Ovidio Guzmán remains in prison, but with a “different status.”

The pieces are moving… Jeffrey Lichtman said his client would never make a deal with federal prosecutors.
