Andy Ruiz Jr. believes that David Benavídez deserves the chance to fight with Saúl ‘Canelo’ Álvarez, but in the end it will be up to the undisputed super middleweight champion to decide if this confrontation will happen.

Speaking to the press, Ruiz Jr. said he would like to see this fight against Benavídez, although he agrees that Canelo Álvarez has earned the right to do what he wants and choose his opponents.

“I would like to see him (Canelo) against Benavidez. I know both of them, and Benavidez is younger, and I think he deserves the opportunity”But I think Canelo can do whatever he wants, like he said, he can fight whoever he wants. And it’s up to him whether he wants to please the crowd or not,” he said.

The experts’ forecasts, if the confrontation takes place, are very close. Because some believe that the Mexican Monster has what it takes to end the reign of the Guadalajara native, but based on what was seen in his debut at light heavyweight against Oleksandr Gvozdyk, some have changed their minds and think that the undisputed monarch will beat him.

For three years Benavídez has been the mandatory challenger and now he must decide whether he will stay at 175 or go down to 168 to seek the duel with the Mexican four-division champion. Although fans and many experts in the sport would like to see this great fight, the tapatío has not shown any real interest and the WBC has not enforced the rules to order the fight.

In addition, Canelo Álvarez assured that the only way he will accept the confrontation is that they offer him a purse of $200 million dollars. For this reason, David Benavídez asked Turki Alalshikh for help to make this duel a reality.
