He Sergio “Checo” Pérez crash this Saturday during qualifying for the Hungarian Grand Prix This did not sit well with Red Bull team director Christian Horner, who once again issued a warning to the Mexican driver, hoping he can turn around the bad moment he is going through.

The director of the energy drink team acknowledged the concern generated by the McLaren team that managed to get the Pole Position thanks to the British driver Lando Norris who will be accompanied on the front row this Sunday by his teammate Oscar Piastri.

“We haven’t had pole here since 2019, but this time we were very close. The McLaren drivers were so incredibly fast, but it was unfortunate that we lost Sergio already in Q1.”Horner lamented, highlighting that the Mexican’s accident further complicates his current situation.

“I think I have shown myself to be very patient, but this was really the last thing he and the team needed.”said the head of the Austrian team in an interview with the Viaplay channel after the session in which the other Red Bull driver, Max Verstappen, finished third.

Although Christian Horner could not hide his annoyance at Sergio “Checo” Pérez’s performance, the Red Bull manager limited himself to issuing a warning to the Mexican, reminding him that they need his contribution to remain in the fight for the lead among the constructors this season.

“Any discussions we have with him will, of course, take place internally and not in front of the media. But of course, we cannot run on one leg.”said the Briton, pointing to the Guadalajara driver who is once again in the eye of the storm due to his poor form.

The crash that the Mexican was involved in not only left him in the final part of the game this Sunday but also compromised the functioning of his RB20 which suffered severe damage to the rear, something that the Austrian team will have to correct quickly.

“Now we have to put everything back together, fix the car and see what we can get out of it during the race”commented the director of the energy drink team that will try to break the dominance shown by McLaren in this classification this Sunday.

The Hungarian Grand Prix is Sergio “Checo” Pérez’s chance to get back on track with good results, something that has not happened since the races in China (he finished third) and Miami (fourth) before entering a period of poor results that not only includes his retirements in Monaco and Canada but also the 17th place achieved a couple of weeks ago in Silverstone.
