At a time when América is going through a complicated start to the 2024 Apertura tournament with two losses and one victory, the Águilas’ board of directors accelerated the formalities this day to complete the signings of Chilean defender Igo Lichnovsky, who finally achieved his goal of having the Coapa team buy his card from the Tigres and the incorporation of Uruguayan forward Rodrigo Aguirre coming from Monterrey.

Without a doubt, the arrival of both players was a priority in the plans of Brazilian coach André Jardine, who has seen the results slip through his fingers due to not having players like the ones in his ranks at the moment. Uruguayans Sebastián Cáceres and Brian Rodríguez, the Chilean Diego Valdés, as well as these last two players, especially Lichnovsky, who in the last two tournaments became a key player in the defense of the Eagles.

Lichnovsky is now an Eagle

In the case of Chilean defender Igo Lichnovsky, after a series of economic disputes with Tigres, he ended up convincing the América board to buy his pass permanently, For this reason, this Thursday the Americanist institution published a video on its social networks where the Chilean defender is seen signing the contract with the Americanist team wearing a team jacket.

The delay in announcing his signing with América was due to Tigres looking for a better offer for the services of the Chilean defender. However, in Liga MX there was no other team that was interested in taking on the high salary of the Andean defender and there was also no offer in other leagues, including the MLS.

For now, the Chilean is ready to be taken into account to line up against FC Juárez this Saturday on matchday 4 of the Apertura 2024 tournament, meanwhile the Chilean himself took time to say goodbye to Tigres on social media, In his message he did not fail to send a controversial message to certain directors who made his life difficult in the feline team, but without mentioning their names.

Rodrigo Aguirre, Quiñones’ replacement in the Eagles’ attack

As for the case of Rodrigo Aguirre, the Uruguayan striker was only waiting for the news that both the Monterrey board like América, they agreed on the last financial details to announce their arrival in Coapa in the place left vacant by Julián Quiñones, forward for the Mexican national team.

Monterrey was the first team to announce Aguirre’s transfer to América with the following message: “The Monterrey Football Club announces that Rodrigo Aguirre is no longer a player for Rayados del Monterrey and joins Club América on a permanent transfer”

Monterrey also mentioned that the Uruguayan forward defended the Monterrey jersey in 63 matches: 58 in the BBVA MX League, 1 in the Leagues Cup and 4 in the CONCACAF Champions Cup. After that announcement, América immediately uploaded images to its social media showing Rodrigo Aguirre signing his name with his new team.
