Newhart died on Thursday, July 18, in Los Angeles. The actor began his career in comedy in the 1950s.

He gained national fame in 1960 when his routine was recorded on vinyl as ‘The Button-Down Mind of Bob Newhart’, an album that won a Grammy Award for Album of the Year.

The actor gave life to ‘Proton’, who in the series ‘The Big Bang Theory’ was Sheldon Cooper’s teacher and idol, for which role he won the Emmy Award.

His departure caused a stir in Hollywood, due to his long career in television and entertainment.
