The real estate market of Marbellain Spain, experienced a before and after a few days ago with the demolition of ‘La Gaviota’, the famous house that the actor Antonio Banderas had in the area.
The residence, which was built in 1995, was first inhabited by the announcer Incarna Sanchez and almost immediately after by the Hollywood actor, who never imagined that when he bought it he would only acquire problems, because since its construction the neighbors of the area raised their voices against the residence.
Although next year marks the 30th anniversary of its construction, legal battles, attempts at settlements and judicial setbacks have been going on for several years, leading to the emblematic house being reduced to rubble.
“In 1996, some local residents began to complain about the construction of ‘La Gaviota’ because they considered it was on public land dedicated to parks and gardens. This would be the tip of an iceberg of lawsuits and legal actions that placed the house in a judicial limbo for 28 years, which ended in its demolition,” reported the Vaniatis portal.
Although demolition work has only just been carried out, Antonio Banderas has been trying for several years to save what had been his refuge for so many years, but all his attempts were in vain.
“I have not committed any illegality. I bought the house from a third party with all the papers in order and if the City Council deceived me, I am not to blame,” he declared resignedly about 10 years ago.
The Marbella house was the place where Antonio Banderas used to escape when he wanted to disconnect from the world, and he even spent part of the lockdown caused by COVID-19 there.
