Stop & Shop announced the closure of 32 locations due to “poor performance”

Recently, the retail chain Stop & Shop announced the closure of about 32 stores due to poor performance and the fall in sales, this is due to the fact that consumers have also been pressured by the increase in prices.

Through a statement, the president of the chain, Gordon Reid, said that “Stop & Shop has evaluated its overall portfolio of stores and has made the difficult decision to close underperforming stores to create a healthy foundation for future growth of our brand”, said

These are the stores that will close in the coming months and their locations by state:

Connecticut

  • 72 Newtown Road, Danbury
  • 855 Bridgeport Ave., Milford
  • 1937 West Main Street, Stamford
  • 211 High Street, Torrington

Massachusetts

  • 932 North Montello Street, Brockton
  • 341 Plymouth Street, Halifax
  • 165 Needham Street, Newton
  • 24 Mattakeesett Street, Pembroke
  • 36 New State Highway, Raynham
  • 539-571 Boston Turnpike, Shrewsbury
  • 415 Cooley Street, Springfield
  • 545 Lincoln Street, Worcester

New Jersey

Employees affected by the closure will have the opportunity to work at other locations, the company said in a statement. The company also said it will remain “committed to serving its communities through other stores, online shopping and home delivery services.”
