The referee who will act in the grand final of the 2024 United States Copa America will be the Brazilian Raphael Claus, who, curiously, He was in charge of refereeing the last match that Colombia lost in 2022 and that was, precisely against Argentinabefore racking up an incredible 28-game unbeaten streak.

This is because this Thursday Conmebol officially announced the Brazilian’s selection for the final that will be played next Sunday between Argentina and Colombia at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.

Claus, who in this Copa América has only refereed the match between Venezuela and Mexico (1-0, with a penalty in favor of each team), in the first phase, was the referee of the last match in which the coffee growers fell, which was in February in the city of Córdoba by 1-0 in the South American qualifiers for Qatar 2022.

Claus also refereed Colombia’s 3-2 victory over Peru in the match for third place in the 2021 Copa América and the draw against Paraguay (1-1) in the qualifiers.

In addition to the match in Córdoba, he has also led Argentina in draws against Ecuador and Paraguay and a victory over the Albirroja, always in the World Cup qualifiers.

At the last World Cup in Qatar 2022, he refereed two matches in the group stage of the competition: England-Iran (6-2) and Canada-Morocco (1-2).

The game that will define the Copa America champion will be Next Sunday in Miami at 8 pm ET / 5 pm PT and you can follow it on Fox Sports (in English) and TUDN (in Spanish).
