Chicago woman sentenced for murdering her landlord and hiding her body in a freezer

A woman convicted of killing her landlady and hiding her body parts in a freezer and a dumpster on a beach on Chicago’s North Side has been sentenced to 58 years in prison.

Sandra Kolalou She was found guilty in April on multiple charges, including first-degree murder, in the death of Frances Walker69, in October 2022 at a home in Arcadia Terrace.

At Kolalou’s sentencing hearing, Cook County Judge Ursula Walowski said that The case seemed like something out of a horror movie.and that the accused clearly feels no remorse for her crime.

Walowski sentenced Kolalou to 50 years in prison for first-degree murder, six years for dismembering Walker’s body, and two years for aggravated identity theft. The sentences will run consecutively, but Kolalou will get credit for the 641 days he has already served in prison.

He got angry at attempted eviction

Before being sentenced, Kolalou spoke on her own behalf and said she sent her condolences to Walker’s family but insisted she was not a killer.

The crime occurred in a five-room boarding house at 5919 Washtenaw Avenue. Prosecutors say that in October 2022, Kolalou He brutally murdered and dismembered Walker out of anger after he tried to evict her from the boarding house.

This came two days after Walker received complaints from other tenants about Kolalou.

Police reports consulted by CBS News indicate that The attacker responded to text messages sent to Walker’s cell phonegiving the impression that the victim was still alive.

The tenants, however, called the police after hearing screams and seeing Kolalou leaving the property with some suspicious bags, which he later threw into Foster Beach.

Body parts found in freezer

Authorities investigated the situation three times and left, but upon executing a search warrant at the Washtenaw Avenue home, they found Walker’s head, dismembered arms and legs in the first-floor kitchen freezer.

Based on preliminary evidence, detectives believe that Walker was murdered in her bedroom and dismembered on the first floor of the residence.

Kolalou was set to be sentenced last month, but at her last hearing her lawyers said there were letters from her family and a video of her saving an elderly woman that they wanted to show the court.

His defense also previously filed a motion for a new trial, but it was denied. Now that the sentence has been handed down, his attorneys said they plan to appeal.
