Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1
Kevin Costner broke one of the old Hollywood rules to get this project off the ground. He spent more than $50 million out of his own pocket to produce “Horizon: An American Saga,” the first part of which opens in theaters today. It is an epic western set over 15 years during the American Civil War, in the second half of the 19th century. It shows us a time of expansion and settlement in the brutal American West; with stories of families, friends and enemies determined to discover and colonize the last frontier. Written, directed and starring Costner himself, the cast also includes names such as Sienna Miller, Sam Worthington, Jena Malone, Abbey Lee, Michael Rooker, Danny Huston and Luke Wilson, among others. Presented at the last Cannes Festival with divided critics, we will have to wait until August 16 to see the second chapter. Costner’s plan is a series of four films. The third installment is already being filmed right now with budget problems and is expected to be released in 2025.
