Through a statement, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced last week the recall of Snapchill brand canned coffee from the market for fear of botulism.

The manufacturer Snapchill decided to voluntarily withdraw almost 300 products after it was known that during the production process “it could lead to the growth” of botulinum toxin. “Snapchill is working to submit the appropriate notification to the FDA,” the statement highlights.

In an attempt to avoid alarms on the part of consumers, the company stated on its website that “we are working quickly to resolve the issue,” it said while mentioning “We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience or concern this withdrawal may cause. “We are working with the FDA on solutions to restart production within standards.”

According to the FDA, the manufacturer distributed the canned coffee throughout the country through retail chains so it suggested consumers destroy the product or return it to the manufacturer for a refund.

Until now, No cases related to the consumption of the product have been reported.; However, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), botulinum toxin can cause botulism, which in turn produces a potentially fatal disease caused by “respiratory and muscle paralysis.”
