Clean energy boom in the US sparked more than 300,000 new jobs from 2022

The clean energy boom in the United States has led to the creation of 312,900 jobs and 585 projects in this sector, after the approval of a law promoted by President Joe Biden in 2022, according to a report released by the organization Climate Power En Acción, but at the same time, it warned that the possible return of Donald Trump is a threat to the sector.

In the details of this information shared with La Opinión, it was reported that More than 40% of these jobs, a total of 127,910, are in low-income communities, boosted by the announcement of 267 new clean energy projects. These projects are providing $111 billion of investment to drive the revitalization of economically disadvantaged areas.

Since the investment for climate change and clean energy allocated by the Inflation Reduction Act, which includes the “Made in America” policy, thousands of jobs have been created in the country for electricians, mechanics, construction workers , technicians, support staff and many others, the report highlighted.

Climate Power En Acción points out that States with significant Latino populations are taking advantage of this unprecedented opportunity: 20,098 new clean energy jobs have been created in Nevada and 15,570 in Arizona.

Globally, most projects are located in five states: Michigan, Texas, Georgia, California and South Carolina, the report highlights.

Meanwhile, the state of Georgia leads the country with 30,661 new clean energy jobs.

In total, the new projects include 173 new battery manufacturing plants, 137 new or expanded electric vehicle manufacturing plants, and 166 solar and wind plants.

Antonieta Cádiz, director of Climate Power En Acción, warned that lInvesting in clean energy in the United States not only contributes to the environment, but “will also provide sustainable sources of income and job security for families.”

However, warned that former President Trump’s offer to the leaders of Big Oil would destroy these historic advances, “In exchange for $1 billion, Trump has promised to repeal the clean energy plan and stifle these burgeoning renewable energy industries starting on “Day 1” of a possible second term. “House Republicans have already passed legislation to repeal President Biden’s clean energy plan despite the significant investments in clean energy production he is pushing in their own districts.”

Thus, this new analysis comes after more than 300 clean energy executives denounced efforts to repeal President Biden’s clean energy plan, stating that doing so “would be nothing less than an economic and national security disaster.”

Meanwhile, the UAW and other unions continue to rally behind the Biden Administration, ensuring that these new jobs will be good-paying ones that workers can keep. to their families, while Trump does nothing but continue attacking these unions.

conservative supermajority on the Supreme Court that overturned Roe v. Wade two years ago, and both have warned that another Trump term could presage an even more far-reaching national abortion ban.

For this reason, Biden insisted: “Send me back to the White House and I will fight with all my might to restore Roe v. Wade and to protect American freedom”.
