Stimulus checks in California: who qualifies to receive a payment of up to $9,000?

Residents of the city of Pomona, California could qualify for a new stimulus check from a Home Universal Grant Pilot Program (Pomona HUG) which pIt plans to distribute up to $500 dollars per month for 18 months for a total of $9,000 dollars.

According to the entity, there is a deadline to apply. In addition, those interested in sending the application must meet certain requirements, such as:

  • You must be over 18 years old.
  • Living in the city of Pomona.
  • Be the parent or legal guardian of a child under four years of age at the time of application.
  • Having been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
  • Have an income limit equal to or less than 65% of the area median income (AMI).

Families who apply may also qualify even if they are receiving any state benefits such as federal Pell grants, Medicaid, MediCal, or the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP).

The deadline to apply is July 8 at 11:00 pm PST. but applications will be accepted in physical form on June 25 at the Pomona Library between 2 to 7 pm. This program seeks to analyze the impact of financial aid on the most vulnerable families who may receive bonuses of up to $50 if they participate in surveys and training talks.
