The welterweight champion boxer, Terence Crawford, sent a forceful message to Canelo Álvarez in the midst of preparations for his challenge to fight four times this year, in order to become super middleweight champion .
In an interview on Sirius XM Crawford said: “When you look at Canelo’s career, it’s like there is shunned black fighters. I think black wrestlers give him more problems. ”
With this statement showed Canelo’s supposed fear of fighting against Afro-descendant boxers , given the possibility of being defeated.
In fact, the only defeat Álvarez has suffered was precisely against a fighter of those characteristics, Floyd Mayweather. Although it is worth noting that Canelo was nothing like the boxer he is today.
A native of Guadalajara, he does not lack victories against black rivals of weight like Shane Mosley, Austin Trout, Miguel Cotto or Daniel Jacobs .
