Kate del Castillo, Mónica Huarte and Consuelo Duval star in the comedy film ‘It’s for your good‘ which premieres this Friday on ViX. The actresses play three overprotective mothers who will do the impossible to separate their children from women who do not suit them.
In an interview with The opinion, The actresses talked about their characters and their similarities to their own mothers.
“I told them that my mother and my grandmother got along terribly (…) I grew up hearing my mother say (about my grandmother): ‘this woman has no limits’. I lived that all my life and then my mother repeated the pattern with my husband and my brother until she realized that she could lose him and now they adore each other,” said Mónica Hugarte, who plays Matis in the film.
Kate del Castillo, who makes her comedy debut with It’s for your goodsaid he had a similar experience. “My mother always had problems with my grandmother, my father’s mother. She always wanted to take care of him too much and be against my mother. He did some tremendous things and my mother didn’t let him.…It was a bit of a strong situation throughout my life until my grandmother died, may she rest in peace,” said the actress, known for the series The queen of the south.
The 51-year-old actress did He highlighted that mothers, in general, tend to be more protective and jealous of their children.. “It’s something that happens more with men, it’s not like that with women, it always happens with men,” she said.
About the filming of the film, The actresses assured that it was very fun and that when they saw the final result they were pleasantly surprised. “I’m very judgmental with myself, but with my character there were moments when I said ‘at what time did I make that face’ or When we were recording I didn’t think that certain moments were going to be so endearing., so iconic,” said Consuelo Duval, who believes that several clips from the film will surely be very successful on TikTok. “I can swear to you, just as I am a witch, every scene of the mothers, as friends and as mothers, is going to break it on TikTok”, he claimed.
Although they had fun filming the film, Duval said that making comedy was also a challenge. “One of the things I learned from Eugenio Derbez is that comedy is the most serious thing there can be, because if you do comedy trying to clown around or take away the dignity of the characters, it is no longer a comedy,” said the 55-year-old actress.
In the film, the children of these three actresses are played by José Eduardo Derbez, Michael Ronda and Sebastián García. The rest of the cast is completed by Ana Sofía Gatica, Ana González Bello, Farah Justiniani, Fernando Memije and Victor Huggo Martin.
