For several years, Mexico has been one of the most risky countries to practice journalism, since many of those who dedicate themselves to that profession, mainly those who cover the security source, have suffered threats, attacks or simply lost track of them. .

One of them is Victor Manuel Jimeneza reporter who disappeared in the city of Celaya, Guanajuato, since November 2020 and, almost 4 years later, the discovery of his remains was announced.

The Attorney General’s Office of Guanajuato indicated that a forensic laboratory confirmed the identity of the journalistso the remains were delivered to their relatives, who throughout this time suffered the ordeal that thousands of people in Mexico experience with missing loved ones.

According to media such as the newspaper El Universal, the body of Jiménez Campos was located inside an abandoned well in the community of Torrecillas, in the municipality of Villagrán.

Although no details of his disappearance have been released or if there are suspects for this fact, the town of Villagrán is located within the territory of influence of the Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel.

Jiménez Campos disappeared while on his way to cover a sporting event at a baseball field located between the municipalities of Villagrán and Celaya.
