Pool party shooting leaves one dead and five injured in Los Angeles

One person died and five others were injured by a shooting that occurred during a pool party Friday night in the Compton areareported the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

In a press release, authorities said the shooting was reported at approximately 8:00 p.m. at a residence located near the intersection of South Mayo Avenue and East Greenleaf Boulevard, near Compton College.

According to the LASD, the party was not directly related to the university graduation ceremony, which took place that same night. The place where the shooting occurred was surrounded by yellow tape from the authorities.

Authorities said that at the time the gunfire erupted, The celebration that was taking place in the backyard of the residence quickly turned into chaos. and which was attended by about 100 people.

At the moment the explosions were heard, the partygoers headed outside the residence and They ran through the neighborhood in their bathing suits, abandoning their belongings at the place where the party was taking place..

According to the Compton Fire Department, six people were found at the scene of the shooting with gunshot wounds. A man died on the way to a hospital.

Because of the shooting, Two other men and three women suffered gunshot wounds.. Medical services transported the five victims with injuries that were not life-threatening.

It was reported that the Compton Fire Department requested help from the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

The man who died was identified by family members as Robert Abdelkader III, in his 20s and business owner.

“He was a fantastic young man. Simply a wonderful person“Ernest Green, a member of his family, told KTLA. “As a community as a whole, we have to overcome the ignorant part. It will never be the same”.

For the moment, the authorities They were still unclear as to what caused the shooting..

“When they were getting ready to leave, these people got angry and started shooting. I heard that the owner of the residence was killed. “My niece was shot in the arm, we don’t know who did it,” Janice Brayboy, whose relative was among the victims of the shooting, told ABC.

Until this Sunday morning, Authorities have not reported anyone arrested in connection with this shooting. nor has a description of the suspect been provided.
