Ryan García’s legal team announced that two supplements declared by the Californian on the VADA doping control forms and that consumed on April 19 and 20 tested positive for contamination with Ostarineso they are seeking a light sanction of four months or less.
In statements to ESPN, Paul Greene – one of García’s lawyers – explained that since the consumption of the prohibited substance was not intentional, the sentence of the New York Athletic Commission It shouldn’t be that serious.
“The World Anti-Doping (Association) code recognizes the advance declaration of a supplement as proof that the athlete consumed it and allows the athlete to obtain a reduced sanction in most cases. I am hopeful that (the punishment) will be on the lower end as determined in these cases. We understand that Ryan will receive some sanction, but we feel that, given the evidence now, it should be a light sanction. Four months or less,” he said.
“Usually, there is a range of sanctions based on the degree of faultand when you have a situation where there is a contaminated supplement that is not available on an internet search, it is not on the label, there is no way that an athlete could have known that the prohibited substance was there unless they had sent in advance to one of the two VADA accredited laboratories,” he added.
According to reports from the Sports Medicine Research and Testing Laboratory (SMRTL), NutraBio SuperCarb and Body Health supplements showed the presence of Ostarine at 70-2200 picograms per gram and 660 to 830 picogramsrespectively.
Now the New York State Athletic Commission should schedule a hearing for King Ry in the coming weeks to know what punishment he could face.
Since the fight between Haney and García was announced, everything was very controversial.
