TEXAS – An Arizona man was arrested after allegedly disrupting the path of a caravan of soldiers of the National Guard that transported COVID vaccines – 19 in West Texas.
The armed man crossed the soldiers pointing his weapon at them, according to the Police.
66 Larry Harris, of Willcox, allegedly pursued three National Guard vans moving eleven soldiers down a highway in Lubbock, Texas. The chase was about two miles near Idalou, according to Eric Williams, head of the Idalou Police Department.
The Soldiers were on their way to Matador, Texas, located about 95 miles east of Lubbock, to deliver vaccines COVID – 19.
Harris tried multiple times force the vans to stop and then crossed in front of them forcing them to stop.
The suspect then pointed a gun at the unarmed soldiers and identified himself as a detective asking to search the vans.
Harris told the soldiers that he thought there were a woman and a child in the vans who had been kidnapped .
Local police responded to the incident and arrested Harris. The suspect had a loaded pistol and an additional cartridge, according to police.
Harris faces charges that include aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, unlawful detention and interference with Texas Military Forces. No one was injured in the incident that occurred on Monday.
