Javier Aguirre said goodbye to Mallorca with a 2-1 victory against Getafe. The Mexican coach took the opportunity to say that he is not sure of his new destiny, but “he will not lack work.”
Aguirre lived an emotional day on the Coliseum lawn. His players honored him in the two goals and the Coliseum public applauded a rival coach to recognize his good work in Mallorca. Later, at a press conference, he spoke about his feelings and his future.
“They insist that I continue. I get very tired. Is not easy. You are losing energy, it is difficult for you to move, you are getting older, things hurt, you are suddenly not in the mood. Must see. I have no idea where to go right now. People have called us and I will not lack work.”
Regarding the celebration of the first goal, the work of Muriqi, he described what he felt when his player went to the bench to celebrate the goal: “I saw it and I was scared. It is a hundred kilo animal. It was a special week for all of us. For players, fans and press. We achieve the goal and The feelings were on the surface. “I was talking about the commitment I have to the institution and today it was demonstrated in the game,” he said.
Aguirre continued with his explanation of his feelings after his players’ celebrations.: “No player had ever applauded me at a farewell. I think it was natural and that’s what this squad is. It’s a big family. In the hug we said ‘let’s go family, let’s go family’. It is difficult to use those words, because there is loneliness, we are tough men, we endure blows…” he commented.
“We are brave and brave, but also crybabies. The older I get, the more difficult it is for me to articulate words when emotions are involved. At my son’s wedding, for example, what a shame, everyone talked and I couldn’t,” she added.
Javier Aguirre responds to the applause at the Getafe stadium
Regarding the Getafe fans, he recalled an event from twenty years ago and compared it to the applause he received at the Coliseum:
“The thing about the fans killed me. At the beginning, in 2002/2003, behind the bench there were some old people calling me ‘Aguirre, son of a bitch, go to your country’ and things like that. Now they will be watching a play or maybe I convinced them and they applauded me. But it has been very nice.
