Gerard Piqué is the leader of the Kings League project. With this seven-a-side soccer tournament, the former FC Barcelona defender has managed to cross borders. The Kings World Cup is about to begin and Piqué believes that the Spanish clubs will suffer from the altitude of Mexico City.

This Sunday, May 26, the competition begins, which will bring together several seven-a-side soccer teams from different tournaments. But the clubs will have to adapt to the 2,240 meters of altitude in Mexico City. This condition will have to be overcome by foreign clubs, gradually.

“Every day that passes, the Spaniards will acclimatize better, but it is evident that they are going to suffer. I just arrived and I’m still dizzy. Playing here for height is not the best way to start the competition and be at the highest level, but each one will have to adapt and get used to these conditions“Piqué explained in statements compiled by EFE.

This competition is made up of 32 teams that will compete for the trophy at the Arena Ciudad de México. The final will be played on June 8 at the Rayados stadium in Monterrey.

Among the participating clubs there are nine teams that come from the Kings League of Spain. Porcinos FC of Ibai Llanos; 1K, of which former Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas is president; Kunisport, chaired by the former Barcelona player, Kun Agüero; Rayo de Barcelona, Aniquiladores, Jijantes FC, Los Troncos FC, Saiyans FC and Ultimate Móstoles, the latter led by streamers.

Monterrey puts obstacles for Piqué

The final phase of the Kings World Cup will be played in Monterrey. However, Gerard Piqué already felt the heat of said area and this has conditioned him in some decision-making. Since the broadcast, the heat of Monterrey will affect viewers in Europe, as the games will be scheduled the dawn of that continent.

“I was recently in Monterrey and the truth is that it was very hotso at noon nothing will be played, The games will be at night, a time that in Europe will be more difficult to follow”But let’s hope that people have the enthusiasm to wake up and follow the ‘final four’,” he considered.
