A Chatham, Virginia, man may know the recipe for becoming a millionaire after he While cooking his soup, he discovered that he won more than $1 million dollars.
Daniel Ricketts winner of $1,051,955, told the Virginia Lottery that he was making soup when he decided to play Wheels of Bonuses from his device and, wow, from a whole tomato to a blended one, he was already a millionaire.
“I really didn’t expect this to happen!” Ricketts shared. “I called my girlfriend and she didn’t believe me!”
According to the Virginia Lottery office, Ricketts said that I had a few minutes to kill while the soup heated upso he went online and played the Wheel of Bonuses game.
“I expected a much smaller prize!” he said.
The Virginia Lottery notes that the Wheel of Bonuses game features a progressive and increasing jackpot. The odds per game of winning any prize are 1 in 3.67. To play, it can be accessed from the valottery.com site or through the mobile application.
In fiscal year 2023, the lottery raised more than $867 million for K-12 education, representing approximately 10% of Virginia’s total K-12 school budget.
Ricketts lives in Pittsylvania County, which received more than $7.2 million in Lottery funding for K-12 education last fiscal year.
