A London-born Italian teenager whose ability to spread the teachings of the Catholic Church on the internet led him to be called “the influencer of God” has the path paved to become a saint.

Pope Francis attributed a second miracle to him: the healing of a Costa Rican university student in the Italian city of Florence, where he had been studying since 2018.

Carlo Acutis was beatified – the first step towards sainthood – in 2020, after his first miracle: curing a Brazilian child of a congenital disease that affected his pancreas.
The second miracle was approved by the Pope after a meeting with the Vatican’s sanctification department.
It is not yet known when he will be canonized.
Carlo Acutis died in Monza, Italy, after being diagnosed with leukemia.
His body was moved to Assisi a year after his death, and is currently on full display along with other relics linked to him.
In addition to designing online sites for his parish and school, Acutis became known for launching a website that sought to document every reported Eucharistic miracle and which debuted days before his death.

Miracles are usually researched and evaluated over a period of several months, and a person is eligible for sainthood after having two to their name.
For something to be considered a miracle, it usually requires an act that goes beyond what is possible in nature, such as the sudden healing of a person who is close to death.
The most recent person to be canonized was María Antonia de Paz y Figueroa, also known as Mama Antulaan 18th century nun who became Argentina’s first saint.
