Emilia Perez premiered at the Cannes Film Festival. This Saturday, the actors of the film competing for the Palme d’Or, Selena Gomez, Zoe Saldaña, Karla Sofía Gascón and Édgar Ramírez, walked the red carpet of the Grand Théâtre Lumière.

The Jacques Audiard-directed film, a musical crime comedy, follows Rita, a talented lawyer, disillusioned by her firm’s focus on winning cases for any client. and to whom an opportunity to escape is presented. The leader of the Manitas cartel hires her to help him leave her criminal empire behind and fulfill her lifelong dream: becoming the woman he always wanted to be.

Selena Gomez wore an elegant black dress with a white crossed bardot necklinewhich she adorned with a large necklace and waterfall earrings.

Zoe Saldaña opted for a black dress with a large pink train with bows on the skirtwhile Karla Sofía Gascón wore a completely black dress.

For its part, Édgar Ramírez chose a color palette similar to Gomez’s with a suit with a white jacket and black shirt and pants.

After the screening of Emilia Perez, The audience in the room gave an ovation that lasted more than 11 minutes to the film’s team while the credits rolled. The gesture moved Gomez and Saldaña, who burst into tears.

This year’s jury is chaired by Greta Gerwig and among the team members are JA Bayona, Lily Gladstone, Eva Green and Omar Sy.
