They arrest a woman who 4 years ago abandoned her daughter's body in a suitcase on the street

The mother of a two-year-old girl who was found dead inside a suitcase in the municipality of Nezahualcóyotl, State of Mexico, in 2020, she was arrested for her alleged responsibility in the feminicide of the minor.

According to the state Attorney General’s Office (FGJEM), the capture of the woman, identified only as Victoria, was carried out in Mexico City in a joint operation with the federal Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) and the Attorney General’s Office of Justice of Mexico City (FGJ).

The “baby of Aragon”as the minor was known because of the place where she was found dead, remained unidentified for several months, since her body was abandoned under a bridge without anyone claiming her.

The discovery was made by residents of the area, who notified the authorities. The prosecutor’s office even offered a reward of 300,000 pesos for anyone who provided information that would lead to the location of his family.

According to the newspaper Reforma, the activist Frida Guerrera participated in the work to identify the minor, and with the investigation work it was determined that Victoria, along with her romantic partner, perpetrated the alleged feminicide.

The minor showed various signs of child abuse, blunt injuries to her knees, chest, secondary cerebral edema and head trauma. Additionally, she showed signs of Kempe syndrome, an indication of severe physical abuse and possible malnutrition.

The Prosecutor’s Office of the State of Mexico began the corresponding investigation and, after 4 years on the run, the victim’s mother was able to be arrested, as she remained hidden.

“According to investigations by the Mexican Prosecutor’s Office, the probable person involved was hidden in Mexico CityTherefore, the collaboration of the capital’s Prosecutor’s Office was requested to enter her territory and arrest her,” said the Mexican Prosecutor’s Office.
