Xavi Hernández came out against the rumors about his possible dismissal from the FC Barcelona and the Spanish coach assured that nothing has changed and that he will continue sitting on the bench of the Catalan team during the next season.
This Saturday, during the press conference prior to this Sunday’s game against Rayo Vallecano on the penultimate date of LaLiga, the coach spoke about the rumors that arose about the discomfort that had generated in the president, Joan Laportahis statements about the team’s financial situation.
“The club gives me peace of mind and enthusiasm. We continue with the same ambition and desire to face the remainder of the season and the next. We have a project. I understand the environment and the noise, but it doesn’t change anything”commented Xavi Hernández in statements collected by the EFE news agency.
“There is a project with an extraordinary base of people from the house that has been consolidated. This year we have tried, but due to details it has not given us the chance to win. Next year we will be able to compete better and we want to prove it.”added the Spanish coach.
On Friday in the Spanish press, information was published about the discomfort that Xavi’s statements about the club’s financial situation would have generated in Joan Laporta, which does not allow him to fight directly with Real Madrid, a team that was recently crowned LaLiga champion.
“I don’t know nor am I interested in where this information comes from. The president’s confidence is intact, as is that of Deco, our sports director.“Xavi Hernández commented, clarifying that the good relationship between the coaching staff and the leadership of the Barça team is maintained.
“I have the honor of being where I want to be, in the club of my life, and with my ambition intact”added the coach who had recently changed his decision to leave the club. FC Barcelona at the end of this season and assured that he would remain in his position for the next campaign.
The Catalan team’s performance this season was quite far from what was expected after becoming LaLiga champion last season. In the local tournament, FC Barcelona is 14 points from the top, in the Copa del Rey and in the Champions League they were eliminated in the quarterfinals.
“If there is any change we will tell you, but in principle I am calm”concluded Xavi Hernández, who in principle will continue to lead FC Barcelona for the next season in which they will seek to turn the page on the disaster they experienced in the current campaign, which still has a couple of games left to finish.
