In its effort to find a solution to the migratory phenomenon that daily impacts mainly the US border strip bordering Mexico, The White House decided to add Blas Núñez-Neto to its team of advisorsAmerican citizen born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and who served as undersecretary of border and immigration policy at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
By not finding an alternative to stop the arrival of foreigners without documentation proving their stay in the country, The administration headed by Joe Biden also incorporated the Bolivian Marcela Escobari into its team of advisors on immigration issues, who served as head of the Office for Latin America and the Caribbean at the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
Núñez-Neto, who immigrated to the United States from Argentina as a child, is considered an expert on immigration policy.
In fact, it showed important collaboration in crafting the Biden administration’s response to the lifting of Title 42, promoting asylum conditions similar to those used during the government of former President Donald Trump, which benefited immigrants from Cuba, Nicaragua, and Venezuela. and Haiti who demonstrated to have a financial sponsor based in the United States.
Likewise, Núñez-Neto contributed to the negotiations to resume deportation flights to Venezuela.
Regarding the role that the new Argentine advisor, Angelo Fernández – White House spokesperson – will play in Washington, he issued a statement highlighting his capacity.
“The Administration will continue to fight to fix the broken immigration system and pressure Republicans in Congress to pass the historic bipartisan border security agreement they rejected for partisan political reasons.
We look forward to DHS Undersecretary Blas Núñez-Neto joining the White House and continuing his work implementing the Administration’s vision in the areas of border security and immigration,” the letter states.
This way, The focus of the administration led by Democrat Joe Biden will be restrict immigration as much as possible allocating more resources to the development of Latin America in the hopes of stifling the flows of people trying to reach the United States.
