Emilio Azcárraga, owner of América, minimized the defeat with Chivas and wants Henry Martin to remain on the team

The controversy between América and Chivas del Guadalajara will always have something to cut from and now the flame of discussions was fanned by the owner of the Coapa team and boss of the Mexican television network Televisa Emilio Azcárraga, by ensuring that they are designed to win championships and not to reap victories that motivate morale.

The businessman accompanied by the forward Henry Martin and the Spanish defender of América Femenil, Andrea Pereira, downplayed the importance of Chivas’ victory with that controversial phrase and at the same time took advantage of the situation of the event to ensure that they would like to keep the Yucatecan striker on the team, but that, if they make the decision to go elsewhere, they will have the open doors.

Controversy with Chivas

Regarding the significance that Chivas gave to the 3-2 victory in the second leg of the Concachampions, that did not prevent the elimination of the Sacred Flock from this competition, Azcárraga Jean said that: “I believe that this team, as we have said and I have always said, I have discussed it with Andrea (Pereira), with Henry (Martín), with the coaching and board teams, this club is not made to win games, we built this club, we love it and we work for it to win titles,” he highlighted.

And in that sense he added that: “There is a lot of talk when we don’t win a title of failure, in that failure there is a lot of analysis that is done behind the scenes within the club that I don’t believe that it is a failure, but at the level of saving seasons with one game, it is not our case,” declared Emilio Azcárraga.

In his presentation, the television businessman added that America, from its design, has an established DNA and that lies in the fight for all the marbles in any competition, declared Azcárraga Jean, later stating that: “The players here know that there are no half measures. You win or lose big, but you win more,” he said.

In this regard, he assured that: “You have heard me say this and I will not get tired of saying it. The DNA and personality that this club has, That is why it is great, the difficulty and the virtues it has for players, coaching staff and management. I am sure that we must win Saturday’s game, as we must win the Conca Quarterfinals, as we must win the next game of the season and the Final on May 26. It is the philosophy I have,” stated the owner of América.

He wants the “Bomb” Henry Martin to stay

Meanwhile, when addressing the issue of contract renewal that both América and the Yucatecan striker himself are seeking, the owner of the Águilas stated that: “I think he is very happy here. It is talked about not only about him, but also about many players. Perhaps they are promoted by other clubs, representatives or entities that then do not represent what the player or club wants. There is open communication with all the players. I would like all these great players and figures of Mexican and international soccer, who have been made in America, to always stay here, but the doors will always be open when they look for better opportunities,” said the owner of the most controversial team in Mexican soccer.

He added: “I think it is in the best interests of Henry and the club for him to stay. I think that a family bond is created with these unfounded criticisms of the club or players and it makes us become more united and that family unity makes us see for the best that can happen for the club or players. When things are talked about, paths will cross and we saw it with him, Miguel, players who have come and gone. Henry’s respect for the fans, for his teammates, for me and the board is very important,” he concluded.
