Iris Apfel dies at 102: the fashion world is in mourning

Iris Apfelwhose passion for color and printing left an indelible mark on the industry, died at the age of 102confirmed a source close to her through the artist’s own Instagram.

Known for her unique style and love of creativity, Apfel died in his hometown of Palm Beach, Florida., leaving behind a legacy of decades of hard work. He shared his life philosophy on his birth centenary in 2021, which was his greatest joy.

“On half a birthday, I’m only 26!!! Today I turn 102 and a half years old… happy leap day! ”Apfel wrote on his Instagram account just a day ago. However, this is not the designer’s true birthday, but August 26.

In recent years, Iris Apfel continued working. She had a great capacity to continually reinvent herself through collaborations with brands such as H&M and Ciáte London.

His love for colors and irreverent, macro designs are evident in all of his creations. For years she brought joy and vitality to the world of fashion in different brands.

Iris Apfel also popularized her oversized lenses, but he never sought fame for these pieces. Also for their bracelets and remains of giant accessories.

For her, it was another expression of her passion for fashion and individuality. Her interest in fun and creativity has inspired generations of designers and fashion lovers.

The growth of Iris Apfel in fashion and design

Before establishing herself as a fashion icon, Apfel rose to fame as an interior designer and textile expert with her husband, Carl Apfel. Her company Old World Weavers attracted a significant clientele and left an indelible mark on the history of design.

Throughout his life, Iris Apfel challenged stereotypes about aging and retirement through hard work and dedication. She worked, literally, until the last day of her life, and she was also applauded and fired by millions of women in the world.

“What can you do but stay still until you are 100? I don’t play bridge. I don’t play golf. “I like to work and I really like what I do,” he told People magazine some time ago.
