The SAG Awards broadcast for the first time through the Netflix streaming platform, provided numerous surprises to viewers, One that will remain etched in viewers’ memories was when Bryan Cranston and the cast of ‘Breaking Bad’ took the stage to award the award for Best Drama Series to “Succession.”
The presence of Cranston, Aaron Paul, Anna Gunn, Bob Odenkirk, Jonathan Banks, Dean Norris and RJ Mitte, emblematic actors of the series, surprised those attending the event. These performers, who a decade ago won the award for Best Cast in a Dramatic Series at the same award ceremony, presented the same award to “Succession” with humor and complicity.
It is worth noting that during their brief interventions on stage, the members of the ‘Breaking Bad’ cast made allusions to the behavior of their characters in the series. For example, Cranston maintained a serious expression, similar to that of his character, Walter White.
The chemistry between the ‘Breaking Bad’ cast members was evident on stage, especially during the banter between Odenkirk and Gunn, which added a touch of nostalgia and joy for fans of the series. The return of these iconic actors to the SAG Awards not only evoked memories of the series’ past successes, but also highlighted the lasting influence and cultural relevance of “Breaking Bad” on contemporary television.
The “Breaking Bad” cast’s participation at the 2024 SAG Awards served as a reminder of the lasting impact the series has had on the entertainment industry.as well as in the general public.
Bryan Cranston on the world of Breaking Bad: “Everything should come to an end”
15 years have passed since the first episode of “Breaking Bad” aired, a series considered by many to be one of the best in television history. In the midst of the Hollywood fever for sequels, prequels and spin-offs, hope persists among fans of the series that the universe created by Vince Gilligan has more stories to tell, despite the statements of its protagonists about the ending with “Better Call Saul”.
Bryan Cranston, known for his role as Walter White in the original series, recently shared his perspective on the franchise’s closure, expressing that he sees nothing wrong with it coming to an end. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Cranston commented: “Everything should come to an end. Everything is cyclical. Our lives are. The seasons, the trees, everything. So it’s okay that everything has a beginning, a middle and an end, and there you have to let it go. “I’m proud of what we did.”
After the end of “Breaking Bad” in 2013, Bryan Cranston reprized his role for a brief appearance in “El Camino,” the 2019 film that sought to close the story of Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul). She later reunited with Paul for the final season of “Better Call Saul.”
Cranston’s recent statements support the position expressed by Gilligan in an interview with Variety in 2023. Gilligan mentioned that, although he did not completely rule out the possibility of expanding the universe of the series in the future, he did not feel a strong motivation to develop new sequels. “It’s fun to think about what happened next with the characters, but it doesn’t make me think, ‘I’d like to say something more,’” he said.
