Not even the best script for a Hollywood movie would have written the story that took place at Akron Stadium on Flag Day where Guadalajara defeated the UNAM Pumas 3-1 in a victory qWhat became a party with the premiere of “Chivabrother”Mexican-American Cade Cowell and the debut of Chicharito Hernández after 14 years of absence in Liga MX.

A victory that came at the exact moment to prevent the slip of two games that the squad led by the Argentine Fernando Gago had from becoming a crisis of results and the reaction became a celebration at the top of the Guadalajara team with a great night of Alan Mozo and Roberto “Piojo” Alvarado.

The Chivas simply took advantage of the lukewarm way the Pumas approached the match throughout the 90 minutes where they never felt comfortable on the field and except for the penalty scored by the Argentine Eduardo Salvio in the second half, their offensive production was very precarious.

On the contrary, Guadalajara saved a very hesitant first half, struggling to put together plays that could harm the feline goal defended by Julio González, they had a splendorous second half that served to reconnect with their fans.

It was precisely in the complement when the Chivas had their best moments that coincided with the greater participation of Roberto “Piojo” Alvarado, Cade Cowell and Víctor Guzmán who began to combine and overcome the cats who did not know how to react.

Thus, at 52 minutes, Cade Cowell appeared and “Chivabrother” managed to make his debut in Liga MX with a shot in the center of the area after a great action on the side of “Piojo” Alvarado.

This play paved the way for Guadalajara’s victory as they gained confidence and it was not surprising that in the 67th minute Antonio Briseño made it 2-0 with an accurate header in the heart of the area.

At that moment, the UNAM team wanted to react with a penalty in a fortuitous play with the hands of Chiquete Orozco that brought the cats closer to 2-1 in the 73rd minute.

But it was already written that the great game of Mozo and Alvarado would put the finishing touch on the cats by generating a great play on the right side that put the third goal on a plate for Víctor Guzmán and thus established the final 3-1.

With this score, coach Fernando Gago decided to send Javier Chicharito Hernández to the field to make his debut after 14 years of absence in Mexican soccer when he scored his last goal with the Guadalajara team on date 12 of the 2010 Bicentenario tournament in the 6-2 victory over Santos Laguna in a duel held on March 27, 2010.

Hernández ultimately saw action for three minutes to gain rhythm and everything indicates that the next game on date 10 against Cruz Azul will have more minutes on the field.
