The Liga MX Clausura Tournament is on date 9 and only two teams remain undefeated without defeat after the last nine games. Club Necaxa and Rayados de Monterrey are the two teams without losing in this tournament.
Even though the two teams have not lost during the Clausura Tournamentneither of them is in first place in the table dominated by Cruz Azul, team that comes with 5 wins in a row.
The Rayados de Monterrey achieved a 3-0 victory against Bravos de Juárez and reached 18 points with three wins and two draws in the last five games. Fernando Ortiz’s team has 5 wins and 3 losses that places them in third place in the standings.
For their part, Rayos del Necaxa tied 1-1 with Pachuca, but they still haven’t lost in this tournament. The team was leading 1-0 with a goal from Emilio Martínez until Salomón Rondón tied it from the penalty spot.
This streak of nine games without defeat for Necaxa is the club’s best streak in history. They equaled their best mark they established in the 2001 Tournament with the same number of wins and draws so they will be able to extend it next week.
Necaxa will face Mazatlán at home in its next match on the first day of March in the Liga MX.
Monterrey beat Juárez and consolidates its position in the first four places in the table
The Spanish Sergio Canales scored again after two games in this Friday’s rout of the Rayados del Monterrey by 0-3 over Juárez on the eighth day of the Clausura 2024 Mexican soccer tournament.
Brandon Vázquez and Argentine Maximiliano Meza were the other scorers for the undefeated Rayados, who rose from fourth to third place with 18 points, one away from equaling the leader Cruz Azul.
Canales scored three goals in the Clausura, equaling his record from Apertura 2023, his first tournament at Monterrey in which he only participated in five games due to an injury.
Los Tuzos rose to second place with the result reaching 19 points, the same as Cruz Azul, who has a better goal difference, while Rondón reached five goals to equal Víctor Guzmán, from Guadalajara, in first place among the Clausura’s top scorers.
The clashes will resume this Saturday with the visit of San Luis to León, Atlas to Tigres UANL, from Pumas UNAM to Guadalajara and from Cruz Azul to champion America, in one of the derbies in Mexico City.
