Mexican actor Gael García Bernal presented ‘Another end’ together with Italian director Piero Messina at the prestigious Berlin International Film Festivala film that the actor described as “deep and extremely romantic.”

Gael García Mexican actor, producer and director shared his impressions with prominent cast colleagues such as Renate Reinsve, Bérénice Bejo, Olivia Williams and Pal Aron, in fiction respectively his late partner and his sister. “It is a very deep and extremely romantic film, because I think there are few such romantic films today,” he noted, later joking that he was “talking like an old man.”

García Bernal plays Sal, a man unable to overcome the loss of his girlfriend and who is pushed by his sister to use new technology that allows the memories of the deceased to be reincarnated in the body of another person for a limited time to say goodbye.

‘Another end’ is a film that “ponders very important philosophical questions,” said the Mexican actor, who reflected on the division between body and soul and the opportunities that new technologies open up.

“In Western culture we think that the body is not the person, that it is, so to speak, a disposable vessel, but the film challenges this idea in a very sensory and instinctive way,” commented García Bernal, who added that “biological complexity” The body is part of life.

García Bernal also pointed out that the existing technologies do, to a certain extent, something similar to those in the film, since photographs record memories, although perhaps not the interpretation made of them. In any case, she stressed without hesitation, in real life he would not make the decision to bring back the personality of a loved one in another body.
