George Santos files lawsuit against TV host Jimmy Kimmel

The Republican politician, who near the end of last year was expelled from the House of Representatives after being indicted on 23 federal charges, filed a lawsuit against television host Jimmy Kimmel whom he blames for having improperly used some videos where he appears.

In December of last year, Based on a House Ethics Committee report, it was concluded that George Santos “had attempted to fraudulently exploit all aspects of his House candidacy for his own personal financial benefit.”

Under charges for alleged theft of his donors’ identities through the card numbers provided to make contributions to his campaign, as well as for alleged embezzlement of campaign funds and lying to the House, Federal authorities also determined that Santos should stand trial in the summer.

All of this caused the Republican to become the sixth expelled in the history of the House of Representatives, but also with the risk of ending up in prison if the crimes he is accused of are proven by the authorities.

In this way, while his lawyers prepared his defense for a possible trial, Santos decided to follow in the footsteps of other former politicians such as Rudy Giuliani, Rod Blagojevich and Roger Stone, who joined the website Cameo where anyone with the ability to spend a few dollars can request personalized videos dedicated to their acquaintances.

However, after a couple of months of selling some of his productions, according to the newspaper New York Post, The former representative of New York’s 3rd Congressional District claims Jimmy Kimmel tricked him into recording 14 personalized videos for him.

In a complaint filed in federal court in Manhattan, the 35-year-old politician claims that the television host used pseudonyms to request videos for which he paid $500 dollars each.

Subsequently, These videos were broadcast on Kimmel’s talk show, allegedly damaging the reputation of George Santos, According to the lawsuit filed, they were directed with “the sole purpose of capitalizing on and ridiculing his personality.”

Videos in which the Republican politician congratulates a woman for successfully cloning her Schnauzer dog named Adolf, as well as a man for winning a competitive ground beef eating contest, are part of the material exposed without his consent.

In this regard, Andrew Mancilla, the former legislator’s lawyer, sent a letter to the ABC television network and Disney demanding Kimmel’s cease and desist; while Santos He is seeking at least $750,000 in damages.
