Cher is nominated once again for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

Less than two months after the singer Cher would express his repudiation for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, has been nominated once again, along with other important artists and groups. The results will be announced in April.

A list that includes 15 nominees is announced annually., who must have released their first single or album 25 years earlier. Those who will compete in 2024 are: Mary J. Blige, Mariah Carey, Cher, Dave Matthews Band, Eric B & Rakim, Foreigner, Peter Frampton, Jane’s Addiction, Kool & The Gang, Lenny Kravitz, Oasis, Sinéad O’Connor, Ozzy Osbourne, Sad and A Tribe Called Quest.

Of them, seven will be chosen by means of a vote among the directors of the Hall; The awards ceremony will take place in the fall and will be broadcast on the Disney+ platform. After being nominated several times, Cher has assumed a position of rejection towards these recognitions, and she showed it when interviewed by Kelly Clarkson in December 2023.

“I’m not in the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. I wouldn’t be there now if they gave me a million dollars. I’m not kidding. I was going to say something else. I will never change my mind. They can go you know where.”was what the interpreter of hits like “I Found Someone”, “Believe” and “Love And Understanding”.

John Sykes, the director of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, said in a statement: “This remarkable list of nominees reflects the diversity of artists and music that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame honors and celebrates. In the true spirit of rock & roll, these artists have created their own sounds, which have impacted generations and influenced many others who have followed in their footsteps.”
